Dear friends, if you have landed on this blog, it means that you want to learn more about the possibility of a language stay in Italy.

Let’s start by naming this experience. In Italian we use the terms ‘study stay’, ‘study holiday’, ‘language stay’, ‘study trip’, language trip

As you can see, the useful words are ‘stay’, ‘travel’ and ‘holiday’. These words are combined with ‘study’, in particular ‘study of the language’ of the visiting country.

Travel is a fundamental aspect of our lives. People and populations who travel have always come into contact with new worlds and become culturally enriched. Travel, in human history, became a true teaching method from the 17th century onwards and in the 19th century, with the spread of the grand tour, the educational trip to Italy became a fundamental moment in the education of young people from aristocratic and wealthy European families.

Today, a learning holiday in Italy is affordable for many and involves both youngsters and adults.

I, personally, have a wonderful memory of my first study holiday in England, specifically in London, when I was 16 years old and a high school student. What a thrill! Living with an English family, taking the metro (I was certainly not used to the metro in Florence), getting used to a cuisine different from mine … everything was new and absolutely exciting for me. Of course, it wasn’t easy, but if everything had been easy, what would have been the value of the experience? Now that I am many years older, I am looking forward to organising a language study stay abroad again and it is a great pleasure for me to be able to help those who come to Italy for this purpose.

Here, at the italianme school, we experience daily the satisfaction of welcoming adults of all nationalities who want to make the most of their study holiday in Italy.

This is how we help you organise your language study stay for adults in Florence!

The first thing to know is that our Italian students are all adults, of various ages.
You will not find, among our courses, an offer for people over 50 or similar because we believe that the deepest sense of this type of language stay is the meeting of younger and older people as well as people of different nationalities. It is precisely the opportunity to experience a study holiday of this kind, accompanied by Italian language teaching professionals, that our students most appreciate.

What you have to do is choose when to come to Florence and for how long.
Our Italian courses run all year round, except for 3 weeks of school closure during the Christmas holidays. You can choose a minimum stay of 1 week, or a longer study stay of 2, 3, 4 weeks or even longer.
You choose the starting date of your study holiday in Florence. Just contact us by e-mail. If you are an absolute beginner we will give you the starting dates. If, on the other hand, you already have some knowledge of the Italian language, you will take our level test and we will tell you if we have the right course available in the period of your interest.

The different seasons of the year all have something special in Florence and, of course, disadvantages too. Spring, for example, is beautiful from a climatic point of view, but it is also true that in this season the city is crowded and one has to organise accommodation in advance. The summer can be very hot, but the advantage is that the days are long and you can spend a lot of time outdoors or enjoy a day at the beach (which is only 1 hour by train from Florence). At the school, of course, we have air conditioning in every room, otherwise it would be really difficult to make the most of the study experience in July or August in the city. In autumn, the Tuscan city and countryside are beautiful, the Tuscan cuisine is probably at its best, but sometimes the days can be rainy and grey. In inverno il numero di turisti cala e i fiorentini si appropriano della città, trovare un alloggio a costo minore può essere più facile ma bisogna considerare che fa un po’ più freddo e il pomeriggio fa buio presto.

After choosing the period, you will have to consider which Italian language course to attend during your study stay in Florence. In fact, you can choose between a less demanding course (in terms of timetable) such as the Semi-Intensive (from 9:30 to 11:00) or a more demanding course such as the Intensive (which takes up the whole morning, from 9:30 to 12:45), or the Super-Intensive (with which you will also have private lessons in the afternoon in addition to the morning group course. The Intensive course is the most popular and in fact it is the one I would also recommend. In any case, when you contact us we will give you all the details by e-mail and help you decide which course suits you best.

Your study holiday wouldn’t be a holiday if it didn’t also include lots of great cultural and social experiences. Whichever course you choose, here at the school you will find a wide range of afternoon and weekend activities. Among other things, you can visit the Uffizi Gallery or the Galleria dell’Accademia with us, take part in a tasting of typical Italian products or in walks that allow you to get to know the city of Florence and its history in depth, enjoy an evening in a pizzeria or at the theatre with your teacher and classmates, etc. All these activities are organised directly by the school. Registration is very simple: just look at the bulletin board in the secretary’s office with the week’s proposals and write your name in the list of participants. We can send you the calendar of activities in advance if you want to organise your Florentine afternoons in good time.
You will also have the opportunity to visit the towns and villages of Tuscany, thanks to the collaboration between our school and a specialised agency in Florence that organises trips and excursions. So you can spend some wonderful days discovering our beautiful region, making friends with many other people who are here in Florence with the same desire as you to get to know Italy.
